New Pokémon TCG Products: Volcanion Collection

At final count, I think there's something like 1,025 different type of Pokémon. There are so many Pokémon out there and each and every one of them has their share of admirers. Everyone has a favorite and not everyone's out to "catch 'em all!"

As of 2024, Hugo Tsang Cheuk-ti of Hong Kong holds the Guiness World Records title for the largest collection of Pokémon-specific memorabilia, having amassed nearly 1,200 unique items of Gengar. Gengar was one of the original Pokémon and has been around since 1996 and Hugo has been collecting since about 2001. There is at least one other person out there with a Gengar collection to match: Lorelei Duncan of Modesto, California. Lorelei has been collecting since about 2004. However, she has yet to inventory her collection. As she said, "It's very difficult to track everything. I've been working on it, but it's very, very hard to do so basically, if I see something I don't have, I just kind of buy it. It grows and grows over time. It was never my objective to get the most Gengars in the world. I just really like Gengars, and my personality is kind of like all in on one thing."

While I am probably nowhere near a Guiness World Records title level, I do like to collect all things Volcanion. I do not buy every Volcanion I see, just the things that really catch my eye, and for every item I have purchased, I have passed on many others. Here you can find some highlights from my collection, broken up by object type. While my admiration for Volcanion started when he was first introduced to the TCG in 2016, it really wasn't until 2024 that I started collecting for myself and by that point, most of the merchandise was long out of production and could only be obtained second-hand. What you see here is far from complete and has less to do with "showing off" my collection and more to do with showcasing this awesome Pokémon and its history.
